Tips to Prepare for Your Boudoir Session
Choose your Clothes. Underwear and lingerie is terrific. We’d suggest this is a great time to go out and select something sexy – treat yourself to some really good lingerie. (But don’t forget to remove the labels). Try and avoid thongs, they don’t always work in pictures.
If lingerie is not for you, that’s fine: swimwear, a sports top, large sweater, crisp man’s shirt, or fitted shirt and shorts are all great options. Men really love women in men’s shirts – especially if it is his!
Remember Accessories. Choose items which go with each getup. In general, we suggest keeping it plain and elegant. Too much jewellery can be distracting in the photographs. Also select footwear to go with each getup. You don’t need to bring hundreds of items, but on the other hand better to have it that not.
Remember Special Items. Bring something important to your partner, maybe dog tags, sports gear, hobby equipment?
Beauty Preparations Before the Shoot. We suggest that anything you get done is complete well in advance of the shoot. So, eyebrow shaping, haircuts, manicures, waxing etc. should all be done a few days before to make sure everything has settled down.
Tanning Please do not use fake tan within 2 weeks of the shoot. Any slight unevenness really shows up in photographs. Similarly, if you are thinking of tanning beforehand, do it well in advance and avoid tan lines. We can always apply an even tan in photoshop afterwards, but fixing uneven tanning is really difficult and may have an extra charge.
Just Before the sitting. Drink plenty of water a day or two before to get your skin nicely hydrated and healthy. Shave or defoliate a couple of days in advance, so everything has a chance to settle down. Eat a light breakfast to avoid bloating. Please don’t wear tight clothes, bras, knickers, socks on the day, they leave red indents in the skin.
How to relax for your boudoir shoot
Understandably some customers get worried about their boudoir sitting. I will say now that once you start, you will soon find it is comfy and actually liberating. But I understand you might not believe that while you are waiting!
So, if you want to be ready here are some quick tips.
Bring Your Own tunes. We always have songs playing all through a session, but if you want to bring along your own tunes then please do. Especially if they will help you out to get in the mood.
Have a giggle. If you’re feeling a bit self-conscious acting out in front of the camera, don’t worry, just giggle. Laughter is a great relaxer.
Take a break. You are completely in control throughout the boudoir photo shoots. If you simply want a break then just say so.
We don’t suggest you drink for your session, while it might seem like a good idea, it isn’t really.
You may be worried about being undressed in front of our staff. You will find them kind, courteous and professional throughout your experience. They are very comfy with the process and you will be too.
